Our Story

Keeping Ballard connected since 2016.

Ballard Station, your neighborhood destination. Since 2016, The Station has been a place for the Ballard community to gather. Whether it is Happy Hour, Trivia, Live Music, or Sports Events; this community hub brings people of all walks together to enjoy a craft cocktail or draft beer with their neighbors. The Station is a fun place for friends to meet where there is something for everyone; it is the neighborhood bar were the locals drink and the bartenders know you; it is comfortable, welcoming, and a good time.

It’s not about us,

It’s about all of us.

It’s about the regulars and newcomers. The locals and tourists. The date nights with partners and happy hours with friends. The late-night weekenders and Sunday Funday crews. The fans (Hawks/Sounders/Mariners/Kraken/Storm/Reign/Seawolves – we never miss a good game) and the players (board games, darts, and shuffleboard – bring it on). It’s about all the wonderful people who make up the Ballard community. The Station is a stopover for everyone.

History

In 1889, the tracks of the Seattle, Lake Shore and Eastern Railroad (now Burlington Northern), ran to the south side of Salmon Bay ending at the footbridge across the bay.

The manager of the railroad line, aware of Ballard’s leadership in the Gilman Park development, referred to the stop as “The Ballard Junction” (The Ballard Station). The car would stop at the end of the line on the south side of Salmon Bay and the conductor would call out: “Ballard Station! All out for the Ballard Junction!” And passengers would tumble out and make their way across the creaking bridge to one of the many saloons or bars before heading to their homes in the woods on Salmon Bay.
